"Limitless Mercy"

"For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us." (Psalm 103:11,12 NIV)

"As far as the east is from the west." We can measure the distance from the north pole to the south pole, but how do you measure from east to west? It's limitless. When we confess our sinfulness to God, He forgives us totally and cleanses us completely. (1 John 1:9) What wonderful grace! In Isaiah 43:25, God even says He will blot out our sins—for His sake—and will remember them no more.

I don't understand how God is able to do this, but I'm glad that He doesn't hold my past sins against me. By His grace, I can be forgiven, cleansed, and renewed.

What would we do without the Lord's wonderful grace and forgiveness? We would be miserable, hopeless, and lost. God has not only redeemed us, but has also crowned us with love and compassion and He satisfies our desires with good things. (Psalm 103:4,5)

Our Lord is a generous and loving Father, always waiting for His children to turn to Him, and He is constantly ready to forgive. He asks that we, too, be forgiving. At times when it's hard to forgive people for hurts and offenses—when it seems impossible to forgive—remembering the infinite love and forgiveness of our heavenly Father can help us obey the command to forgive as the Lord has forgiven us. (Colossians 3:13)

Consider the Lord's great mercy today and thank Him for His gracious love and forgiveness.

Thank You, Lord, for Your limitless mercy and grace. I am so thankful for Your love and care for me and for my loved ones. Amen.
